A game where you collect coins to buy DLC

DLC Quest is a very plain and simple side-scrolling 2D platform game. It looks ugly and there is very little to do besides jump around collecting coins and occasionally killing poorly animated enemies. Nobody likes pulling down an indie developer, but it is not fair to crank out any old garbage and start charging people to play it. The aim of the game is to buy upgrades to the game. For example, you can collect coins and buy the ability to pause the game, or buy a new soundtrack to play. The game is loaded with humour, but most of the humour is bad or plagiarized. Even the trailer features a joke from the Simpsons. If you are going to buy it, then buy it on sale and take it in turns playing it with a friend. Try taking it in turns either every time the player loses a life, or when 20 minutes has elapsed (whichever comes first). Otherwise, the game is probably worth a miss.

PROS

  • You do not have to learn a bunch of fancy controls
  • Children may get something out of it if they are already bored

CONS

  • People shouldn’t pay money for games that are this poorly produced
  • Collecting coins so you can buy a hat is not worth your effort
